MISD Transportation
SMART tag System
McGregor ISD now uses the SMART tag system to improve the safety and security of students who use our school buses for transportation. SMART tag provides parents real-time monitoring of their child’s bus.
MISD students are issued a tag that contains an RFID chip (does not transmit a signal) and shows only their name and barcode associated with their student ID number. When students enter or exit the bus, they are required to swipe their tag across the scanner which enables real-time monitoring.
How SMART tag works
The SMART tag Parent App
The SMART tag Parent app allows parents to keep track of their student while they are on the bus. Parents can see when their child boarded the bus and when the bus will approximately arrive at their stop. Parents can also opt to receive notifications from SMART tag.
To get started, download the SMART tag Parent app from the Android or iOS store. Once the app is downloaded, the primary parent listed in Skyward must complete their app registration and confirm their student before any co-parent can register for the student.
Please view the resources below to understand how the Parent app works and how to use it.
