Back to School 2020


McGregor ISD is committed to the health and safety of every student and staff member, their families, and our community.  The District will follow the guidance and best practices published by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS), McLennan County Department of Health, Texas Education Agency (TEA), University of Interscholastic League (UIL), and local governance.  

The District has drafted a Back to School Plan for the 2020-2021 school year with the intention of communicating and connecting with all MISD students, parents, and staff regarding how the District plans to start the new school year.  This plan is a living document that is still in progress as we continue to review the final requirements and recommendations for the start of school from the Texas Education Agency (TEA).  TEA has provided guidance concerning the items below which have been outlined in our plan:

• On-Campus and Remote Instruction;
• Administrative activities by teachers, staff, or students that occur on school campuses or virtually;
• Non-UIL extracurricular sports and activities;
• Any other activities that teachers, staff, or students must complete that cannot be accomplished virtually; and
• Visits by parents and the general public.

Please review the Back To School 2020 document with the understanding that guidelines are subject to change.

Back to School 2020 Plan


MISD will offer both on-campus and remote instruction during the 2020-2021 school year.  Parents have the option to choose which model is best for their students.  Please review the Back to School Plan for 2020 for an overview of these two learning models.  The primary parent or guardian of the enrolled students will need to complete the MISD Commitment Form for 2020-2021.  On this form, the parent/guardian will indicate which learning model their student(s) will participate in.  The commitment form is available through the parent/guardian Skyward Family Access account and needs to be completed before midnight on August 21st.  Click the link to the Commitment Form below and you will be prompted to login to your Skyward Family account.

MISD understands that family sentiments and needs may change as COVID-19 conditions evolve or if the District adjusts its plan based on new directives from the State.  As a result, parents will be able to change their student's learning model at the end of each six-week grading period.  Any requests for changes to your student's learning model must be made in writing to the campus principal two weeks before the start of the next grading period (dates listed below).  • 2nd Six Weeks starts October 13, 2020 - deadline to change instruction model is September 29, 2020
• 3rd Six Weeks starts November 30, 2020 - deadline to change instruction model is November 16, 2020
• 4th Six Weeks starts January 25, 2021 - deadline to change instruction model is January 11, 2021
• 5th Six Weeks starts March 15, 2021 - deadline to change instruction model is March 1, 2021
• 6th Six Weeks starts April 26, 2021 - deadline to change instruction model is April 12, 2021
